I am writing to express my deep concern and frustration regarding the recent changes to the Liberty Cycler cassette, which have severely impacted my mother’s ability to perform her Peritoneal Dialysis treatments safely and effectively.
Without notice, the length of the cassette’s drain tubing has been shortened, making it impossible for her to reach the sink for proper drainage, and significantly reducing her mobility during treatment. She can no longer reach the bathroom, which was crucial for her comfort and safety. This is particularly troubling as her clinic does not allow pauses during treatment due to the heightened risk of infection.
Additionally, I have noticed that the bubble window, which allowed for a clear inspection of PD fluid, has been removed. This critical feature was essential in ensuring the clarity and quality of the fluid, which directly affects patient safety.
The clinic and your customer service representatives have both expressed dissatisfaction with these changes. It is concerning that such decisions, which compromise patient safety and comfort, appear to prioritize cost-cutting over the well-being of those relying on this life-saving equipment.
Whoever made these decisions has overlooked the most important aspect of healthcare: the patient. These modifications have caused undue stress and hardship on my mother and likely many others. I urge you to immediately review this situation and take corrective action to restore the previous cassette design or provide an acceptable solution that puts patients first.
Patients like my mother deserve to have the highest quality of care, and it is unacceptable for profit margins to compromise that care. I trust that you will act swiftly to address this situation and restore trust in the Fresenius brand.
Very well said!
